Police said that a Mazda car carrying Pratyay and his two friends lost control and veered off the road in the Yankalila area. Pratyay died on the spot. His two friends were rescued and admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. They are two foreign students.
Police also said that it is initially believed that the driver lost control when a kangaroo suddenly crossed in front of the car. The road was closed for a long time after the accident.
When Prothom Alo contacted the deceased student’s father, Syed Alam, his identity was confirmed by the grieving family. It is learned that their permanent residence is in Tangail. They are currently living in Dhaka.
South Australian Bangladeshi Community Association advisor Mahbub Siraj told Prothom Alo that Pratyay was very talented and polite. He came to Australia with big dreams. But that dream was stopped at the beginning. He added, “We are making arrangements to send his body to Bangladesh on behalf of the community.”
